Dans le cadre d'un cours de Creative Jam (Master 1) nous avions pour objectif de de réaliser un film d’inspiration SteamPunk, en imaginant et présentant un lieu et ses habitants. Le film doit être construit uniquement avec des ressources générées par ordinateur (IA).
En réalisant nos recherches sur le genre SteamPunk nous avons vu que celui-ci ce apparue au 19ème siècle durant la révolution industrielle, l’époque des grandes découvertes. C’est pour cela qu’en réponse au brief nous avons voulu adapter l’histoire « Le Tour du Monde en 80 Jours » écrit par Jules Verne en 1872. Son roman raconte l’histoire Phileas Fogg, qui réalise le tour du monde en 80 jours seulement, un pari rendu possible grâce à la révolution des transports de l’époque. Un clin d'œil à notre travail réalisée en 7 jours grâce aux nouvelles technologies les IA.
Pour introduire l’histoire, le spectateur entre dans un bureau réalisé à partir d’éléments en 3D adaptés au style du XIXème siècle. Il voit alors défiler des cartes postales envoyés par le héros à sa compagne pour lui raconter son périple au fil des pays traversés. Elles sont déposées sur le bureau de cette femme les unes après les autres, la vidéo est accompagner d'une voix off masculine vient rythmer l’histoire en lisant une partie du contenu des cartes.
La fin du voyage fait un clin d’oeil à un autre roman écrit par le même auteur et adapté en film ”Voyage dans la Lune” par Méliès (qui est par ailleurs le premier film de science fiction du cinéma).

As part of our Creative Jam course (in Master 1) we had to make a SteamPunk-inspired film, imagining and presenting a place and its inhabitants. The film must be constructed using AI generated assets only.
By making our research on the SteamPunk genre we found it had appeared in the 19th century during the industrial revolution, the era of great discoveries. This is why, in response to the brief, we wanted to adapt the story “Around the World in 80 Days” written by Jules Verne in 1872. His novel tells the story of Phileas Fogg, who travels around the world in only 80 days, a gamble made possible thanks to the transport revolution of the time. A nod to our work carried out in 7 days thanks to new AI technologies.
To introduce the story, the viewer enters an office made from 3D elements adapted to the 19th century style. He then sees postcards sent by the hero to his partner to tell her about his journey through the countries he crossed. They are placed on this woman's desk one after the other, the video is accompanied by a male voiceover punctuating the story by reading part of the content of the cards.
The end of the journey makes is a reference to another novel written by the same author and adapted into a film “Voyage dans la Lune” (Trip to the Moon) by Méliès, which is by the way, the first science fiction film in cinema.
